The Salisbury Review has a short, interesting piece by Mark Griffiths which argues that Germany is moving towards conservative liberalism. This is a trend I see as well - Germany & Russia are becoming better places to live, we are getting worse. I am reminded of the poem Bad Bear, Good Bear, by Milne (I think).
